What To Do with All that Halloween Candy

What To Do with All that Halloween Candy

Halloween is here, and as you admire your mountain of sweets, you realize it’s probably not the best idea to eat all that candy. After sorting through your treats and picking out your favorites, what should you do with the leftover candy? Here are a few ideas!

Donate

Donating your Halloween candy is a selfless way to share! Find a local charity that accepts candy donations. Here are some suggestions:

  • Ronald McDonald House
  • Nursing homes
  • Food pantries
  • Veterans’ homes
  • Women’s shelters

Candy Exchange

Some dentists host a candy exchange where kids are invited to trade in their sweets for healthy treats. You may even be able to find a Halloween candy buyback where kids can earn cash for their candy.

Support Our Troops

Send your candy in a care package to our troops. Organizations like Operation Gratitude distribute donated Halloween candy to our soldiers overseas. Be sure to send heat resistant candy (no chocolate) and include a handwritten letter to make them smile!

Recycle Your Candy

Use your leftover Halloween candy for an upcoming birthday party or for fun crafts! Here are some cool ideas:

  • Goodie bags/piñata
  • Candy jewelry
  • Halloween trail mix
  • Ice cream/milkshake toppings
  • Gingerbread house decorations
  • Bring it to work to share with your co-workers
