I’m 60 and female and my blood pressure has been changing over the last year. My dr wanted me to take meds to protect my heart and kidneys – how long can I put this off? I tried the meds for a week and didn’t like how they felt so stopped. I’ve been taking my pressure and its 131 over 83 the last time and heart rate of 76. I have high cholesterol but my dr did the calculations and I’m not in a statin taking group and probably won’t have a heart attack – I have good good cholesterol and good triglycerides. Do I really have to take this drug. What can I do to change these numbers besides lose weight which I try to do all the time. I have no thyroid which makes it harder to lose the weight.
